What are the benefits of folding bikes? minus plus

Folding electric bikes offer a multitude of benefits for urban commuters and outdoor enthusiasts. Their compact design allows for easy storage and transport, making them ideal for crowded city living or trips with limited space. The Portola’s powerful motor reduces the effort required for commuting and extends the range of your rides. Folding ebikes emit zero emissions and reduce your carbon footprint. Overall, the Portola folding electric bike offers a practical, sustainable, and health-conscious transportation solution in today’s world where conserving space and energy is a priority. To lean more, read our article on the benefits of folding ebikes.

Can you change the classes on the Portola? minus plus

Yes you can! The Portola folding ebike arrives in Class 2 out-of-the-box. You can easily change between a Class 1, 2, or 3 ebike through the handlebar display. This offers various benefits where you may need to limit your speed and capabilities depending on the where you are riding.

Can I test ride a bike? minus plus

We are a direct-to-consumer company both in pricing and strategy. You will generally pay a premium for the ability to test ride through a dealer. However, our bikes have been thoroughly tested by top reviewers such as Electric Bike Review, Electric Bike Report, Cycling Weekly, Clean Technica, Electrek and many others who have published their reviews on YouTube. Additionally, we are now supporting an independent network of owners offering their bikes for demos. Learn more here Locations

What can I expect ordering a bike from Ride1UP? minus plus

This article will explain all about what to expect when ordering a bike from us. Ordering With Us

Can I upgrade the battery? minus plus

Unfortunately the 14ah battery pack is the largest available that will fit this frame.

Can I switch the handlebars to another model? minus plus

No. The variations you see on the site are the only options we have.

Can you ship to _______? minus plus

We only ship within the US and Canada. The contiguous United States is FREE. Hawaii and Alaska is $600. Shipping to Canada is $100. We are not responsible for any additional tariffs charged by your local government which often times applied after importing. Unfortunately, we are not able to ship our bikes directly to Europe. You can use a shipping forwarder like ShopUsa.com to reach your country.

Are the bikes water-proof? minus plus

The bikes are not water-proof, they are water-resistant. While we do not recommend leaving the bikes out in the rain or riding in the rain or other hazardous conditions due to personal safety, the bikes can handle low pressure exposure to water. Do not submerge in water or expose to pressurized air or water. Storing your ebike in the elements could shorten the lifespan of the electric bike.

Bike came in and I rode for a few days and then the battery went out. I called customer support and they immediately approved my claim with some evidence and sent me a new battery. I have since put about 50 more miles on it and I am loving it. Folds up and fits tight in the back seat of a Honda Civic and the ride is very smooth and comfortable. I also have dumped it once on the side and after making sure everything was tightened up it still rode great. I definitely recommend this bike and company to new ebike riders!

I purchased a Portola to do some local errands and for just enjoyment and exercise. As soon as my wife tried it, I had to purchase a second one. In less than a month, I have over 100 miles. I have not been riding a bike for years and this bike not only helped me get back into the sport/shape, but this is such a high quality bike that already from time to time I find that I can turn off the PAS. I have topped 30MPH in class 3 PAS 5. Without the 8 speed shifting, I don't think that would have been possible. I love the higher quality smooth 8 speeds of this bike. Just riding the Portola in bike mode only, is very comfortable. Our local area has a lot of steep hills and the PAS modes have no issues navigating them. We have also purchased some 40 gal storage bins from Walmart to put the bikes in the bins when we transport them for camping or for trail rides in local parks. They fit perfect and we are planning to take them on a camping trip in a week. I think I will get a rear basket soon so I can do some errands to the local shops/grocery. So much better than having to take the car. Great product and I am sure I will get many years of enjoyment out of them.

I like everything but the cadence sensor. For a few dollars more they could use a torque sensor that would be much safer to ride.

Absolutely a great bike. Customer service is not so good. It was delivered on time. Fedxex didn’t ask for a signature. I live on the 3rd floor. Left it down stairs. No big. It was very easy to assemble. Very straight forward. 25 to 30 mins. After that? Sent several messages as to why I’m only getting 10 miles per charge. No reply. Thankfully found what I needed on you tube. With the help of you tube videos I finally got my bike where I need it. Absolutely love it. It’s a great!!! Bike, just don’t count on much personal help from ride1up.

My wife loves her new Portola for 46th anniversary! Even with PAS off the bike pedals easily unlike so others. There are only 2 complaints after 20 miles on a gravel rail trail: seat post needs shock absorption, and the handle bars are too far away, wish it had a BMX style handlebar.
Extended battery after 10 miles on PAS1 and another 10 miles on PAS2 battery still indicator had not even dropped 1bar!

How does the bike* fit? Please share your height/size and the frame type you ordered, if applicable. The Portola comes in one frame size, fits her perfectly at 60 inches tall. Myself at 71 inches, 195# and long legs would prefer a 24 inch x 2.8 tire size.

    Love my Portola

How does the bike* fit? Please share your height/size and the frame type you ordered, if applicable. I'm 5'7" and the bike fits me well I ride it mainly on paved trials. It is comfortable and I had an easy time putting it together. Took about 45 minutes. Love that the battery is on the top of the down tube so easy to put in and take out. I have had a few questions and Ride1 UP support got back to me right away. Very happy with the bike
