6K+ miles in 3 years on my Ride1Up 700Series! I commute 20miles round trip & year round in Colorado on this bike and it has met most of my needs and wants. Most of my riding is on paved and packed gravel trails, which is perfect for the wide smooth tires that come standard on this bike.Good points: Building it was easy, fun and exciting - but you should then get a tune-up from a real bike mech to make sure spokes and everything are good to go, Power is good enough for my commute - speed up to 28mph with assist, computer is programable (able to customize power output on each level), good looking, computer screen is in color and very clear to read, throttle lever is great to get started and up steep hills, rack is strong (holding my 9 year old on the way to school - which exceeds max weight), Lights are bright enough to see the trail at night in the winter, works just as well in cold weather and through snow, construction of the frame is very strong and slick at the same time, I don't look too dorky riding it...., smooth strong ride that makes me happy to commute on a bike everyday - even in the middle of winter - cuz it beats the highway any day, and Great Value for the price $1500ish in 2023.Things to improve upon (Long list, but these are good things to think about): Hub motor is loud - people can hear it from far off, spokes connecting to the motor broke like mad (30+ snapped), I'm 6'2" 220lbs. which is too big for this bike (no bigger bike existed at Ride1UP) - website said it was good up to people 6'2" - maybe 6' max - the bike is too compact and the seat post does not go high enough for me, Seat broke easily on my first slow-mo fall on ice (my fault), good quality (Brooks) replacements seats break on the rail - maybe because the bike is too small - I highly recommend getting a seat with big springs - much more comfy, handle bars shake because of the adjustable neck - bike mech. said to replace or lose teeth, the hub motor has a terrible problem that made me crash hard - once you stop peddling the motor stops pushing - 1 second later it pushes for another 0.5 seconds - this caused me to slide out on a normal turn on gravel and crash, when my cadence sensor broke... I did not have a place to bring it to figure out what was happening (strobing power) - Customer Service was great and helped me through it the best they could and we were successful in the end! - but it took months of frustration before it was completed (mainly because I am not an e-bike mechanic and have kids to attend to), The battery life is limited - I can get about 25 miles out of it - but I am aggressive and 220lbs - gotta get to work on time with 700ft of altitude gain on the route. So, even with all of those warts, I am still happy with my purchase. I expect Ride1Up has refined many of these items in newer models. I would love to upgrade, but I don't think they have a big enough bike and I can't go in a store to see if it does. I would recommend Ride1Up to any commuter. Get out of your cars!
