My wife and I settled on the Cafe Cruisers after a fair bit of on-line research. We live fairly close to Ride1up’s San Diego office so we were able to test ride them. Both bikes arrived exactly when they said they would and were in excellent shape. I felt one of the bikes needed to have the rear brake bled and Ride1up replied to my email immediately and we agreed that getting a bleed kit would be best so they reimbursed be. The other bike had a broken strap holding the display in place. They had that FedEx’d that day! Assembly was easy and took about a half hour for each bike. The on-line video instructions were very helpful. Setting up the bikes was easy and only required adjusting seat height and handlebar placement. The brakes are adjustable for reach but the instructions didn’t mention it. This is a very nice feature as my wife and I have very different size hands. The bike is VERY comfortable to ride! The front suspension and oversized tires make it very smooth. The motor is quite powerful but easy to control. The bike assists a lot when going up hills allowing us to tackle some inclines that we avoided on regular bikes. Both bikes shifted gears perfectly right out of the box. I’m not sure about the maximum range as we have only been riding around the neighborhood a few miles at a time. The battery level indicators haven’t moved at all yet. I also haven’t had to charge them yet as they arrived with a 75% charge. We are very happy with our bikes and look forward to taking them camping with us. In terms of negatives there are very few. The accessories are pricey, especially the rear racks. And the choice of colors leaves a lot to be desired; Black, blue that is so dark it may as well be black, and beige. Wife is 5’8”, 140#. I am 6’2”, 210#. Both bikes are step through frames.

The Cafe Cruiser has exceeded my expectations. Solid feel, very comfortable, good power too. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for this style of e-bike.

It was packaged very well! Delivered quicker than I had imagined! Certainly heavier than I had anticipated and much better looking as well! Assembly was quick and painless! The tools being included was awesome! It’s faster than I thought with easy to understand and set up control screen! I personally am as excited as I was when I got my first bike as a child! Especially peddling uphill lol!

I have two comments since I bought two bikes. This one and a step through. The ST has a different badge and the tail light works as a brake light. I like the other badge but I wish my tailight worked as a brake light.

Exceeds expectations. This entry-level ebike is aging well after 250 mi on it in only a couple of weeks. Rear seat pad is a great add-on to ride kids with it. Light could be a bit more powerful works well.

This is my second ride1up product. I originally purchased a Core 5 two years ago. 1700 miles later I wanted something with suspension, fenders and more comfort. the utility rack is also very convenient and now have saddlebags on it. it makes it much easier to carry things.no more backpack. ride1up product is very good. I would have no hang ups about purchasing another ride1up bike in the future.
1st ebike. Very happy. Quality.
How does the bike* fit? Please share your height/size and the frame type you ordered, if applicable. 6 foot tall weight 240lbs, great sizing café cruiser works 4 bigger ppl. If u a little person find something smaller.
I bought the café cruiser for my wife. It is more bike than she has ever ridden before, but once she took it out a few times, she fell in love. She absolutely adores the power available. The only drawback is that the frame is so high. She is a shorter woman, so she struggles with mounting and dismounting as well as with getting going.
Christmas gift for my wife who has some hip issues! Looking forward to better weather when we can ride together!
I researched a LOT of sub $2000 bikes before making the decision on the Cafe Cruiser. At the time of purchase it was on sale for the holidays and I got the XR (step-over) frame. I really thought I wanted a cargo bike but after looking at a bunch of video reviews – the super steep head angle on most cargo bikes and small wheels made me think I wanted something more substantial. And this bike is substantial! The swept back bars, upright riding position, long wheelbase and full size rims and fat tires contribute to the bike feeling rock solid underneath you. I added a rear extension and some huge panniers and I have my comfy cargo bike. Battery life is better than expected and I was able to take advantage of a battery sale to get a second one. And it’s FAST. But only as fast as you want it to be! I was pleasantly surprised by build quality and the gear train – just for fun I rode around without the battery just using muscle power and it’s FINE, even uphill. And let’s be honest – it LOOKS cool too.

I’ve only had my Cafe Cruiser for a few weeks now and cannot make a full review at this time, however I can give an initial review. After unpacking and some assembly I was soon ready to ride. My first ride was in my neighborhood and went well. The bike being a little heavier than a older style steel frame bike was not too difficult to handle but does need to be respected at lower speeds and turning. The next two rides refined my riding skills to where I can easily handle this bike. Remember, respect. I especially like the thumb throttle. It allows me to get a quick take off when stopped. After you start to move peddling is easy then when in a higher gear. I’m still in the phase of adjustments to the front forks but am getting that dialed in. All in all I’m very happy with my Cafe Cruiser. Good job design team. I’ll be the envy of Cocoa Beach, FL.
