We are a direct-to-consumer company both in pricing and strategy. You will generally pay a premium for the ability to test ride through a dealer. However, our bikes have been thoroughly tested by top reviewers such as Electric Bike Review, Electric Bike Report, Cycling Weekly, Clean Technica, Electrek and many others who have published their reviews on YouTube. Additionally, we are now supporting an independent network of owners offering their bikes for demos. Learn more here Locations

The bikes are not water-proof, they are water-resistant. While we do not recommend leaving the bikes out in the rain or riding in the rain or other hazardous conditions due to personal safety, the bikes can handle low pressure exposure to water. Do not submerge in water or expose to pressurized air or water. Storing your ebike in the elements could shorten the lifespan of the electric bike.

The bike is great. It is of high quality, has good power and the battery lasts a long time. I have a Lectric XP 4.0 and they are very similar in quality. There’s a small price difference but I can chock that up to the Lectric having a torque sensor. On the other hand, my son rides the Portola and always beats me up hills and expends less effort 🙂. If I ever replace the XP4 it will probably be with a Portola.
Customer Service is the most important consideration for me when purchasing e-bikes because they rarely come out of the box without issues. Ride1Up provides very responsive CS.
My Portola runs great right out of the box. This is a great buy at sub thousand dollar class e-bikes and I highly recommend this item and company.
6' 160 fits great
Its a really good bike, seat is kinda hard but it get the job done.
I got my Lectric bike XP LITE last year June.i lik e this one better.
I'm 5ft3in my bike is XP LITE at times I have problems getting my leg over the frame. I'm getting old and my body hurts some days. But I love my bike i with i had the bike that your showing now
I love my Portola. The only disappointment is the handlebars. I ordered a touring kit but with the bell, gear gauge, throttle, and speedometer, the mirrors don’t fit on the handle bars. The bar is thinner on the ends but widens toward the middle which means that some of the clamps attaching the accessories don’t fit. I couldn’t install my mirrors far enough to the left or right on the bar to make them useful for seeing behind me. I couldn’t put the right mirror on at all without interfering with the gear shift. I feel like other Ride1Up ebikes wouldn’t have this problem as it looks like the handlebars are one thickness from end to end.
I received my brand new Ride 1 Up Portola today, March 28 2026. Thank you for the really fast shipping from Salt Lake City to Denver.
It arrived safely except for two very minor issues.
The rear fender was scuffed and bent so that it was making a lot of contact with the rear tire. I was able to bend the thin metal supports holding the rear fender enough to get it back to a normal position. There are some scratches on the rear fender. Nothing major, just wanted to let you know in case a better packaging method is possible. Also, the bell is broken. Thank you for replacing the bell under warranty.
I did need to do a slight adjustment to the front brakes as expected.
I also was expecting a set of rear pannier. Maybe they will arrive separately? Yes, they did arrive 5 days later. Thank You!
Thank you for accepting my Colorado Ebike Rebate application!!!
Otherwise, after a really fun first ever Portola ride, all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!
I have been a Lectric XP 3.0 step over owner for the last three years. That ebike has some really good qualities but I’m a 5’11”, 210 lbs, very fit 70 year old guy and that XP 3.0 was so unwieldy, difficult to mount and dismount and weighed more than 70 lbs with the battery installed (not the advertised 62 lbs) that it simply scared me and I rarely rode it. The folding joint always creaked and the seat and handle bars were never comfortable no matter how I adjusted them. I also rode an XP 3.0 step thru a couple of times and still could not get comfortable or felt safe.
I was immediately in heaven comfort wise as soon as I got this Portola’s seat height adjusted. The ride quality and PAS were fantastic, quiet and predictable, not noisy and jerky like the XP 3.0. I felt right at home on the Portola and had no qualms about safety when riding it. I cannot say enough good things about this bike.
I really think more elderly people should do YouTube reviews for your Portola. It is off the charts more suitable for elderly riders with some mobility issues, slight unsteadiness, need a lighter/smaller ebike or have shorter step thru needs due to their body height than many of the ebikes being recommended by reviewers. Those younger 25 to 50 year olds doing Portola, Lectric XP 2.0, 3.0 XP4 XP Lite, Aventon Sinch 2.5 and Velotric Fold 1 Plus reviews ( I have now ridden all of them) are not able to give a true picture of how appropriate the Portola is for the over 60 crowd and how inappropriate some of those other Ebikes are for that age group due to step over height and overall weight. Thank you for making this awesome bike!!!!
