Can you change the classes on the Portola?
Yes you can! The Portola folding ebike arrives in Class 2 out-of-the-box. You can easily change between a Class 1, 2, or 3 ebike through the handlebar display. This offers various benefits where you may need to limit your speed and capabilities depending on the where you are riding.
Can I test ride a bike?
We are a direct-to-consumer company both in pricing and strategy. You will generally pay a premium for the ability to test ride through a dealer. However, our bikes have been thoroughly tested by top reviewers such as Electric Bike Review, Electric Bike Report, Cycling Weekly, Clean Technica, Electrek and many others who have published their reviews on YouTube. Can I upgrade the battery?
Unfortunately the 14ah battery pack is the largest available that will fit this frame.
Can I switch the handlebars to another model?
No. The variations you see on the site are the only options we have.
Can you ship to _______?
We only ship within the US and Canada. The contiguous United States is FREE. Hawaii and Alaska is $600. Shipping to Canada is $100. We are not responsible for any additional tariffs charged by your local government which often times applied after importing. Unfortunately, we are not able to ship our bikes directly to Europe. You can use a shipping forwarder like ShopUsa.com to reach your country.
Are the bikes water-proof?
The bikes are not water-proof, they are water-resistant. While we do not recommend leaving the bikes out in the rain or riding in the rain or other hazardous conditions due to personal safety, the bikes can handle low pressure exposure to water. Do not submerge in water or expose to pressurized air or water. Storing your ebike in the elements could shorten the lifespan of the electric bike.
What is the return policy for the Portola?
All sales are final on any new Portola sales after May 4th 2026 and not eligible for our 30 day return policy. Additionally, no coupons are eligible for Portola Clearance Sales due to the high discounts already reflected at checkout.
It took a little getting used to my new Portola. I had a much taller ebike with torque which is way different. I was starting to be uncomfortable on it due to my age 75 and being short 5’1”. I needed to downsize and this was the one I chose. I love the wide step through area which made my decision easy. I have gotten used to it and feel much more comfortable riding it. The only problem I had was when I tried to install the basket. One of the bolts was stripped and would not come out. The head broke off so the basket works with 3 good bolts. It appears to be very secure, I don’t intend to put heavy things in it. I am happy to be able to ride again and feel comfortable getting on and off.

extremely hard to assemble. to seat the steering and the front wheel. Maybe I missed it, but there needs to be a better video for assembly calling out this very hard part… had a new star washer sent and that was also extremely hard to do. Took 2 people and watching the video multiple times to remove and install the star washer. very frustrating and difficult… Aside from assembly, i love the bike and completely happy with the end result. the packaging was very thoughtful and perfect. I still cant figure out how to turn on the front light though.
