FAQ'S

What are key differences between the Roadster v2 and the Roadster v3? minus plus

The key differences between the Roadster V3 and Roadster V2 center around enhanced performance, improved technology, and premium components in the v3.
The Roadster V3 features a more powerful and more quiet 500W angled-gear hub motor (versus the V2’s 350W motor), a superior Intui-Drive torque sensor system refined with the motor and controller for smoother and more responsive pedal-assist (versus the V2’s cadence sensor), Tektro hydraulic brakes (versus pivot rim or mechanical disc brakes) and in addition to the a Dayco Power Carbon belt drive, we now offer a Shimano Deore 10-speed drivetrain option – a premium gearset found on ebikes 3x the price or more.
Moreover, the V3 comes with high-end features like an integrated, lockable and removable Samsung cell battery, Addix compound, Super Race carcass construction Schwalbe G-One RS tires, and the advanced Velofox vivid-color display, offering a premium and luxury riding experience at an affordable cost.

What is the benefit of the Intui-Drive sensor system? minus plus

The Intui-Drive torque sensor system offers several benefits that enhance your riding experience:
1. Smooth Power Delivery: It provides seamless, immediate power response based on your pedaling force, ensuring a smooth, natural ride feel.
2. Enhanced Efficiency: Unlike traditional cadence sensors, the Intui-Drive system maximizes battery efficiency by adjusting power output precisely to your pedaling effort.
3. Improved Ride Control: It offers better control over acceleration and deceleration, making your ride more intuitive and responsive.
4. Minimal Maintenance: The contactless sensor design reduces wear and tear, leading to lower maintenance requirements.
These features blended into to the Roadster v3 offer a premium riding experience at an affordable cost. Learn more about Intui-Drive.

What top speed can I expect on the Roadster v3? minus plus

The Roadster V3 is designed to reach up to 28 mph with pedal assist. Unlike ebikes with cadence sensors that provide consistent motor assistance regardless of effort, maintaining higher speeds like 28 mph on the Roadster v3 requires maximum effort and torque applied from the rider. With an Intui-Drive torque sensor system, it responds dynamically to how much force you apply to the pedals, offering a smoother, more natural ride.

Achieving and maintaining peak speeds will require less pedaling effort on flat terrain, but hilly areas or fatigue may affect top speed compared to cadence-based systems. Riders will find the torque sensor makes the bike feel more responsive, intuitive, and engaging – especially at moderate speeds.

Can I test ride a bike? minus plus

We are a direct-to-consumer company both in pricing and strategy. You will generally pay a premium for the ability to test ride through a dealer. However, our bikes have been thoroughly tested by top reviewers such as Electric Bike Review, Electric Bike Report, Cycling Weekly, Clean Technica, Electrek and many others who have published their reviews on YouTube. Additionally, we are now supporting an independent network of owners offering their bikes for demos. Learn more here: Locations.

No. The variations you see on the site are the only options we have.

Can you ship to _______? minus plus

We only ship within the US and Canada. The contiguous United States is FREE. Shipping to Canada is $400. Currently, not shipping to Hawaii. We are not responsible for any additional tariffs charged by your local government which often times applied after importing ebikes. Unfortunately, we are not able to ship our electric bikes directly to Europe or Alaska at this time. You can use a shipping forwarder like ShopUsa.com to reach your country.

Are the bikes water-proof? minus plus

The bikes are not water-proof, they are water-resistant, rated IP-65. While we do not recommend leaving the bikes out in the rain or riding in the rain or other hazardous conditions due to personal safety, the bikes can handle water exposure.

What tires will come on my bike? minus plus

Due to supply chain constraints from our component manufacturers, Ride1Up may substitute certain components in rare instances such as tires. We meticulously select replacement components that provided similar, if not better quality and value, than the originally listed components. Our current production includes a mix of Schwalber G-One RS and Pirelli Cinturato gravel tires, which are both high quality and listed in our component section above.

Have had the Gravel V2 for a couple of months now and 800 miles. So far so good. Minor adjustments on assembly such as the rear wheel slightly out of true as delivered and installed and rear view mirror included in acessory package being flimsy plastic. It been a joy to ride. Only two service options within 50 miles of Silicon Valley though.

I enjoy the Roadster V3 immensely. By no means am I mechanically unskilled, but my experience prepping the bike from box to road was extraordinary. I'll admit I had some trepidation beforehand. The Ride1Up YouTube videos were awesome and the web site support was spot on. My pre-purchase research paid off and the V3 has not disappointed me in any way. I particularly value the looks of the V3 and the fact it stylistically avoids being an e-bike "tank". It's slim and light. It fits perfectly on our 2-bike Saris Freedom carrier and is well within weight limitations with my wife's heavier Townie Electra pedal cruiser. I'm a 5'9" older rider and the low step medium frame is perfect. Many friends who've seen the bike are also impressed, especially with the quality of hydraulic brakes and the quality/operation of the 10 speed chain drive. As a retired educator, the Ride1Up Roadster V3 gets an A++

I have been wanting a Roadster since V1 was introduced but it didn't check all of the boxes I needed it to so I bought a 500 Series bike instead. (I really like the 500 series bike.) The Roadster V2 Gravel was very close to giving me everything I wanted but not enough to buy one. V3 (10 speed) has been the bike I was waiting for in that it has hydraulic disc brakes, 10 speed rear, larger watt motor (500 from 350), torque sensor vs cadence and lastly a great price. (It also has a water bottle attachment point which I missed greatly on the 500 Series.) I live in the mountains of NC and the gearing is fantastic, the motor is strong and the bike is very light. (Especially versus the 500 series.) The torque sensor makes the power delivery soooo smooth. I have not done 100-0% range test but I did about 30 miles and still have over 30% of battery so I think if you are pedaling the range is easily 40 + miles. I really can't say enough about how nice this bike is as far as specs, looks and price. I had a minor issue with a loose screw on headlight bracket and my experience with support team was awesome. The Roadster V3 has really evolved into a fantastic quality , feature rich e-bike. Another great job/bike Ride1up!

I’ve ridden this bike for approximately 700 miles over the past three months, and I absolutely love it. There are some minor things, such as slight motor sounds, but they’re not noticeable at all while biking. Overall, it’s an excellent product, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into e-bikes.

I’ve been riding bikes (Road and mountain bikes) well into my seventies. This is a beautiful flat bar – type bike. It is suitable as a recreational bike, a gravel bike, or a bike for an old guy that likes a more upright posture. Upon receiving it I rode it about 50+ miles – with moderate hills – and about 700 feet of climbing – going from 100% charge down to ~30%. The gearing is just about perfect for anything other than >15-20% + grade – even in Eco mode if you’re prepared to pedal reasonably hard. I’ve been using the Eco mode – except when cheating using “sport mode” to keep up with my ‘hardcore rider’ son on hills. I also own a torque sensitive off road mountain bike (Specialized Turbo Levo). The Roadster V3 has a torque sensitive motor very comparable to the “big name bikes” costing two to four time as much. The rear drive works great and a centrally located motor drive does not add much over the rear drive for the intended purpose. The gearing is spot on. The tires are a very good width – for road / packed dirt etc. .The traction is fine on packed dirt. The weight is more than listed – by about five pounds – but it does not effect the riding and but can be a bit of a nuisance when carrying it up a tight stair way. You can reduce the weight a couple of pounds by removing the fenders and kick stand. The front wheel was out of true on arrival and the company put the $26 charge for truing the wheel back on my credit card. (BTW this is not a solicited opinion).

I’ve owned my Roadster v3 for about 2 months now and I’m really enjoying this amazing bike. I like how acts like a normal bike, especially in the lower pedal assist modes where you can’t even hear the motor. The torque sensor is so well tuned and subtle it feels more like a mid-drive ebike vs the hub drive ebikes I’ve had. Its like you are riding with a constant wind at your back. I also like how the bike looks when I park it outside my workplace. It looks like a normal bike and doesn’t draw attention (I have the black model). I love the integrated lights and how the torque sensor efficiently uses power.
There are some youTube videos out there suggesting this model is tubeless ready but my bike mechanic says the rims are not tubeless compatible. I live in Arizona where there are lots of thorny bits and the rear wheel requires some extra work to get off so I put a pair of airless tires from Tannus on there so I don’t have to deal with flats. Otherwise, I have no complaints. Assembly was easy, took me less than an hour.

    Sizing/Fit Notes:

5'11" bike fits well on large frame

I’ve been searching for a suitable e-bike for about 3 or 4 months, but I couldn’t find one that truly met my needs. I was ready to give up and wait until 2025 for new releases when I heard the news about the Roadster v3. I knew instantly that it was exactly what I had been looking for. I purchased the large black, carbon belt model. It was delivered within a week of purchase, and I’ve been extremely pleased with the bike. The design does not look like a traditional e-bike, the over 350 watt motor, semi-straight handlebars, fenders and smooth wielding make it a great choice for me. I’m ver pleased with my Ride1UP Roadster v3

    Sizing/Fit Notes:

5”11, 235lbs the large frame works well for me.
