Can I test ride a bike? minus plus

We are a direct-to-consumer company both in pricing and strategy. You will generally pay a premium for the ability to test ride through a dealer. First ebike and I am incredibly satisfied. Had some issues out of the gate including replacing the crank.....user error as I rushed thru setup like a child during Christmas. So glad I was able to grab a Core-5 right before it was discontinued.

Best choice I could have made. It took me four years to upgrade to an electric bike and lots of research. I am super happy with the performance of the bike. Great quality; as nice as one of the upper end bikes. I upgraded my seat to a Cloud9 for comfort.

This is an update from my previous review from 2022. I have owned this Core V since June of 22. I have over 3600 miles on it and I have been very impressed with the reliability and faultless functioning of the gearing, motor and electronics. I use the #1 setting on the pedal assist, with occasional acceleration bursts, on my 20-mile rides. I get 3, full, 20-mile rides on a single charge, with power to spare. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase, the Core V has exceeded all of my expectations for a electric bicycle.

Just got this bike after the shipping was delayed 3 times (Fedex) and the box came all beat up. The bike itself has a few scratches and dents. Not really Ride1up's fault, however: It's missing a crank arm bolt and the throttle gets stuck (doesn't go back at all), which could be dangerous for someone to try and ride it. So it is unusable. The wheels are out of alignment as well. This was a gift for my wife's Birthday last week. Trying to contact their customer service number and no one is answering.

So I haven't rode for at least 20 years and wanted to to get back into enjoying my commutes. First ebike as well. This bike flat out flies. I have had it for less than 24 hours and can't stop riding. Even raced a pack of German Shepherds. Get this bike, you won't regret it!

I got the sweet deal on the Core 5 during your Black Friday Sale and I'm very pleased with the delivery time and quality of the bike. I've been using it to commute to work and it's such a delight riding this bike. The motor, controller and battery setup is awesome. It's quite fast, responsive and there's no need to use PAS level 4 & 5 for my commute. Riding position is comfortable and the tires are smooth with low rolling resistance and grippy. Also, the headlight is bright and adequate to ride at night. I did change a few components like the saddle, seat post, shifter, brake components and added a rear rack and panniers. I replaced the saddle with a Selle Respiro coupled with a Suntour NCX suspension seat post making the ride a lot more forgiving and comfortable. I also replaced the shifter with a Shimano Altus trigger shifter that I had laying around in my parts bin. I don't think it's necessary but it's more of a personal preference. Lastly, I replaced the calipers to a cable actuated hydraulic calipers paired with a 180mm tektro rotors. 150 miles later the bike is riding like a champ with no issues whatsoever. "knock on wood" Thanks Ride1Up!!!!

177 miles later and I am very happy with this Core5. Plenty of power when I need it. Relatively easy assembly. I added a rack, Rhinowalk Waterproof Bike Pannier Bag 27L, another headlight, taillight and tool bag. Ride1up fenders to be installed soon. My commute is 16 miles round trip. I plan on riding 3-4 days a week to/from work when the temps get above 40 degrees. Thanks for a great alternative to burn less diesel, get some exercise and be outdoors.

I have 2 Core 5 Bikes they Super Nice, my wife bike being 16 months prior to mine did not come with the headlight like mine and I also noticed that the battery capacity is lower than mine. but other than that they are the same, now if someone will come up with an updated version that will recharge some of the power of the bike as you pedal like an old school type dynamo lamp that that recharges as you use the bike it will improve range. This bikes have enough torque and power when used at fully electrical power but we rather use it at the assisted mode on setting # 2 and that it is enough to extend the range and have plenty of fun, we have approximately 75 mile on my wife bike and 35 miles on mine and we have only charged the batteries once. They are so much fun that we planning to purchase 2 more.

Great bike! Logged 1000 miles in the first 80 days since receiving my Core-5 via FedEx just 2 days after ordering it on 29 June 2022. Received my Core 5 XR just a few weeks ago. I never write reviews but had to with this. Shipping was quick (of course, I’m in Phoenix and it came from San Diego, so expected I guess) assembly was easy, I have some bike knowledge - a weekend rider, but only took about 90 minutes. I do wish they would update the video regarding the fork assembly. A little confusing at first, but the printed instructions helped. I changed the grips and seat only ‘cuz I had grips and seat on my other bike that I love, so I swapped, but nothing really wrong with theirs. Added a rear rack with bag and was off. I’m finicky, still trying tweak the derailleur, but how I love this bike! It looks great and rides smooth. Have put about 100 miles on it already. Little hills, medium hills - no problem! (Yes, we do actually have some hills in Phoenix). Everything works great. I chose Ride1Up after about two months of research. I wanted a good value, but solid bike. And I wanted a company that warehouses, supports, and provides batteries and other accessories specifically for their bikes here in the U.S. I know it is manufactured overseas, but I wanted support and batteries closer to me. I love this thing so much I’m commuting with it now everyday to work - no small feat in Phoenix in the Summertime! I’m male, 5’10” 170lbs and the frame fits me perfectly. I will most definitely recommend this bike to family and friends!! Now, if only I could get the ST model to review for my wife - I know she would thoroughly enjoy this bike, too! Do the research, but keep these guys on your short list.

I ordered this bike and had it shipped directly to Hawaii to ride the mountain trails with my friends. This is one of the only companies that ship to Hawaii so thank you Ride1up. I am blown away by how the bike performs. I have about 200 miles in on week one and my longest ride is 55 miles with one bar available on the battery after the ride. I use the battery sparingly, but it is amazing on the steep hills. Most people don't realize it is an ebike as it is so sleek. I highly recommend this bike. The range seems to be great, and I can peal assist up to 28 mph. The only negative I can find is with a water cage attached I can't remove the battery. I am staying in a condo and store the bike in a bike cage. When I get back to Texas, it won't be a problem as I will charge it in my garage.

The 1Up Core-5 is by far the best looking bike in this price category and also the best bang for your buck. It is my 2nd one and even though I had a choice of any other eBike... even higher priced ones, I still decided to buy another 1Up. Everything just works on it. No fuss and easy to use and ride. I've even taken it off-road on lite trails and it did great. I look forward to 1Up's future models.

I did something risky - bought a $1,200 e-bike online, without trying it or seeing it in person, and needing some home assembly. Fortunately for me I ended up with a great bike: the Ride1Up Core-5 ST in a subtle blue color with optional fenders. I have enjoyed this bike a lot so far, it's lighter and stealthier than most e-bikes, and the pedal assist function helps me ride for longer distances. I am 62 and not getting any younger, but the exercise is doing me well. The only thing I did not particularly like about the bike was its saddle, which is a bit too firm for my keister. It's a good seat, don't get me wrong, but it's just too hard for me. So the remedy was a suspension seat post and a softer saddle. All in all I would recommend this Core-5 ST model to anyone looking to take the leap into an online-bought e-bike that is well built and affordable.

Incredible what you get for the price - I love this bike. As long as you're comfortable assembling & tuning it out of the box, it's an amazing deal and looks fantastic. The only cons - I had to replace the pedals since they were creaking after a few rides, I'm not a fan of the saddle, and the brakes are very cheap & hard to adjust without rubbing. The motor is quite strong and capable of climbing very steep hills as long as you're willing to pedal a bit. Battery life seems good as long as you don't rely on the throttle too much, I typically use assist level 3 unless going up a steep hill. Extremely stable at speed and fairly comfortable riding position without being too relaxed. I'll make a few upgrades over time, but considering the cost this bike is nearly perfect.

For the price is a great product we now have 150 miles on the bikes and only problem we had was rear rotor warped on one bike and the other the rear wheel not completely true. The battery life has been very good for us mostly ride level 2 or 3 and both bikes seem consistent on same range running battery down till green light is on which is supposed to be half or less we get about 16 miles.

I love my Core 5. I might change the seat for a little more comfort, but so far so good. Now my husband and I can ride together, since he’s not a cyclist and can keep up otherwise.

Amazing bike for the price! Really benefits from a suspension stem and seatpost. Surprisingly lightweight. i was torn between this and the roadster but not that I have tried both I can confidently say that the core 5 is a better bike unless you are dealing with stairs or tight spaces. Basically, if youre looking for an entry level ebike and want speed or range or climbing power you can't go wrong with the core 5. The roadster is definitely more about filling that lightweight niche and is definitely more speed and range limited as a trade off. Love this bike so much and so glad I decided to pull the trigger. Turned 61 yo recently, and bought the core 500 series EBike. Within a month the odometer passed 750 miles. I feel like a kid again. 90 min rides are the norm. Florida coastal living is sunny , warm and flat terrain with blue skies 10 months of the year. Ride 1 up hit a home run with this durable, strong built commuter leisure bike. It’s fun to ride, safe and easy to pedal to the local pizza parlor. Thank you all for a great value e bike. And for your quick friendly response to my questions. Now my wife wants one. Blue skies, Jerry

I am in love with this bike! I’m so happy I took so much time to research before purchasing an e-bike, and I landed here. I can’t say enough good things about the Core-5. I got the beautiful Blue Step Through. I’m 5ft and it fits me like a glove. It’s hard for me to find a bike that fits me. I love that it can adapt to a taller person as well. My much taller partner bought the grey Core-5. It’s a Stealthy looking ride. This bike rides smoothly and flawlessly. The tires absorb a lot of impact. My previous bike jarred my neck, not anymore. It is extremely fun to ride. The thumb throttle shifter is amazing! It carries me over rough terrain instantly and saves my bad knee repeatedly. The quality of this bike is rock solid and it’s very impressive to looking. The price is well worth what you get for this bike! The way it responds is unbelievable. If you’re on the fence, go check out Ride1Up’s Facebook page! We are a community of very proud and excited Ride1Up owners.

Absolutely love the bike fast shipping and arrived in perfect condition very simple and minor assembly although i have been riding(mainly road bikes)and Restoring vintage bikes my whole life but at 65 and thanks to arthritis in my knees i haven't been riding much but this bike gives me just enough assist to get back out there riding! I did change a few things to get more of a stretched out riding position! A little bling never hurts either!

After 200 miles, I can say that I’m really impressed with the Core 5. For medical reasons, I wanted a relatively light ebike that was well made, but not loaded with a lot of features that I didn’t need. Even though this is one of Ride1Up’s entry level bikes, when you ride it, it doesn’t have an entry level feel. The motor and cadence sensor are responsive, but also smooth. It’s powerful enough that most of the time I only use it on the second setting, but it’s nice to know that there’s still five higher levels of pedal assist waiting if I need them. It’s also nice to have both, pedal assist and throttle modes. I don’t use the throttle mode much because I like to pedal, but I’ll use it for a quick “power boost” if I’m trying to rush through an intersection when the light is getting ready to change. My 11 yr old granddaughter rode this bike up a hill that she normally had to push her 21 speed bike up. When she topped that long hill on the Core 5, she was doing 20mph. They advertise a 30-40 mile range on a single charge, so I took this for a 30 mile ride to see if the battery would run out. Where I got home I still had two bars showing on the display. I’m used to riding a Fuji Traverse One 5, if this bike had the Fuji’s Shimano Nicera shifter and the hydraulic brakes, it would have been the perfect ebike for me. I know that it’s impossible for companies like Ride1Up make the perfect bike for everybody, but they’ve done a great job with this bike, and I’ll probably add these two features to my Core 5 in the near future. I would HIGHLY recommend the this bike to anybody who is looking for a reliable entry level ebike that won’t break the bank. It’s a great ride for the money, and the customer support is also top notch. GET THIS BIKE!!!

Well built and ready to go. It has gotten a Cannondale Adventure II saddle and will get my hydraulic brakes off my Kona in the near future, but everything else seems to be above average. My wife is very happy. She's all about keeping up now! Before I'd look back and she was a speck...but now I get startled she's so close! As in, Ride1up your hubby's tire, close. So give me a few years and I'll be electric as well. Maybe even another Ride1up! Peace

Updated review after three plus weeks and 230 miles. I love this bike! It's not to say there weren't a few disappointments.. but relatively minor. I mentioned the thumb shifter previously. I found it to be stiff and a bit awkward. I'd like to see Ride1UP spend just a few more dollars on a decent shifter. I easily installed a Shimano "Rapid Fire" replacement shifter (very adequate and less than $18), this minor change alone has made the experience more enjoyable. As one of the least expensive components on a bike, it really should be upgraded. The weight at 50 lbs, and with a rigid frame you feel every bump which is not a R1U issue but a personal one. Problem solved with the combination of a suspension seat post and suspension handlebar stem, both purchased from Redshift. And once again transforming the experience. My highest miles per charge (35), was achieved under mixed conditions from flat to hilly and in PAS 3 and in PAS 5 as needed. Two battery bars remained which given the terrain and headwinds was impressive. Because I'd like to venture farther that 15-20 miles (one way), and because the bike will at times be loaded down with camping gear, I ordered the 14ah battery (today!).. That should open up new world of opportunities! I strongly recommend and would buy again!

I love this Core 5 bike. I have cancer and when I ride a regular bike I run out of gas easily. This Core 5 is great for me. I can ride 20 miles with no problem. Going up hills was a big problem for me but this bike eliminated that issue. If I get a certain distance and feel tired, I just stop peddling and use the throttle to get home. Worth every penny in my opinion.

First ebike and I am incredibly satisfied. Had some issues out of the gate including replacing the crank…..user error as I rushed thru setup like a child during Christmas. So glad I was able to grab a Core-5 right before it was discontinued.

The bike is awesome, I’m 330 lbs 5 foot 11 inches and it does what it says it does on flat streets. The bicycle is for my wife and she loves it. We took it on a 40 mile ride, she had it on pedal assist 1 and still have 2 bars left.
