Yes you can! The Portola folding ebike arrives in Class 2 out-of-the-box. You can easily change between a Class 1, 2, or 3 ebike through the handlebar display. This offers various benefits where you may need to limit your speed and capabilities depending on the where you are riding.
Can I test ride a bike?
We are a direct-to-consumer company both in pricing and strategy. You will generally pay a premium for the ability to test ride through a dealer. However, our bikes have been thoroughly tested by top reviewers such as Electric Bike Review, Electric Bike Report, Cycling Weekly, Clean Technica, Electrek and many others who have published their reviews on YouTube. Can I upgrade the battery?
Unfortunately the 14ah battery pack is the largest available that will fit this frame.
Can I switch the handlebars to another model?
No. The variations you see on the site are the only options we have.
Can you ship to _______?
We only ship within the US and Canada. The contiguous United States is FREE. Hawaii and Alaska is $600. Shipping to Canada is $100. We are not responsible for any additional tariffs charged by your local government which often times applied after importing. Unfortunately, we are not able to ship our bikes directly to Europe. You can use a shipping forwarder like ShopUsa.com to reach your country.
Are the bikes water-proof?
The bikes are not water-proof, they are water-resistant. While we do not recommend leaving the bikes out in the rain or riding in the rain or other hazardous conditions due to personal safety, the bikes can handle low pressure exposure to water. Do not submerge in water or expose to pressurized air or water. Storing your ebike in the elements could shorten the lifespan of the electric bike.

I am thrilled with my new Portola! Very impressed with the quality of the bike, as well as the appearance! I got the warm gray color, and with the tan seat, handle grips, and sidewalls, it looks amazing! The bike is very easy to ride, though I did need to adjust to the weight, especially for stopping. Getting better with practice. I live in a very flat area, so I only need the first level of pedal support and I am moving! Surprisingly smooth ride, and best of all, my dog loves it too! He fits in the back carrier (at 19 lbs) and sits comfortably in it.
I also appreciate the packing of the bike. It was shipped almost immediately and very well packed WITHOUT any styrofoam! All the cardboard can be recycled, so thank you Ride1Up for doing this.
Had a bit of a slow start because of the hot weather here, but I’ve been loving riding the Portola around town.
Too heavy
As advertised and delivered. I’d put the weight on the outside of the box so the package gets handled correctly and no one handles the box, that can’t handle the weight without assistance.
