FAQ'S

minus plus
Can I test ride a bike? minus plus

We are a direct-to-consumer electric cruiser bike company both in pricing and strategy. You will generally pay a premium for the ability to test ride an electric bike through a dealer. However, our electric bikes have been thoroughly tested by top reviewers such as Electric Bike Review, Electric Bike Report, Cycling Weekly, Clean Technica, Electrek, and many others who have published their reviews on YouTube. You can read electric bike reviews on any of those sites. Additionally, we are now supporting an independent network of e-bike owners offering their bikes for demos. Learn more about e-bike demos here Locations

What can I expect ordering a bike from Ride1Up? minus plus

This article will explain all about what to expect when ordering an electric bike from us. Ordering With Us

Can I upgrade the cruiser's battery? minus plus

Unfortunately, the 15ah battery pack is the largest available that will fit this cruiser electric bike frame. The e-bike battery provides a range of 30-50 miles on a single charge.

Can I switch the electric bike handlebars to another model? minus plus

No, you cannot switch the handlebars on our cruisers. The variations you see on the site are the only options we have for our electric bikes.

Can you ship to _______? minus plus

We only ship our electric bikes within North America. The Continental United States is FREE. Shipping to Canada is $400. Currently, not shipping to Hawaii. We are not responsible for any additional tariffs charged by your local government which often times applied after importing ebikes. Unfortunately, we are not able to ship our electric bikes directly to Europe or Alaska at this time. You can use a shipping forwarder like ShopUsa.com to reach your country.

Are the cruiser electric bikes water-proof? minus plus

The electric bikes are not water-proof, they are water-resistant, rated IP-65. While we do not recommend leaving the ebikes out in the rain or riding in the rain or other hazardous conditions due to personal safety, the electric bikes can handle water exposure. Leaving your e-bike in the rain or other hazardous conditions could shorten the lifespan of the electric bike.

I have two of these bikes for over 2 years now and absolutely love them. My first bike has over 2,500 miles and the second over 1,000 and all I have needed to do was change brake pads and replace blown tubes, which I found adding slime to the tubes to reduce the need for tire changes. I commute 3-6 times a week 50 miles round trip each day between Fort Lauderdale and Miami and the bikes are solid and definitely the best value. I’m still on my first battery and I’m getting about at hour at power 5 with constant assist, and averaging 28-30mph.

I've had my cafe cruiser for a year and a half. What a great bike. Sure had to bleed the brakes but that is all I did plus change the pads. Other then that this b I ke is tight and right. I did some up grades on the bike like the chainring. Now the bike is even faster then before. I added a adjustable stem, plus a suspension seat post. Plus a mirror and cloud nine seat. Again if you are looking for a great bike this is the one you want . I ride in the north east so it is cold plus snow. The bike goes through it all . Can't complain about anything. The bike comes with great components from the motor to the battery ect. So if you are on the fence not knowing what bike to buy . This cafe cruiser is a great buy for the money.

This is my second Ride1Up bike. The cruiser is great. It's a little taller than you might expect so if you put a basket on it, you might want to get the step through . I'm 5' 8" and, while not impossible, it is a bit of a pain to get my leg over. The basket is easy to take off so I remove it for everyday use. That said, I have no complaints. The bike rides and looks great. Assembly was simple. The Ride1Up videos are more helpful than others online. I had a small problem with the brakes, but Ride1Up customer service was fantastic. They pointed me in the direction of a mobile bike repair, and it was done with the cost reimbursed to me the next day.

This is my 2nd e-bike. I did a lot of research before I purchased this one. It might be one of the best "bang for the buck" e-bikes out there. I've owned it for a year now and haven't had any problems at all. I'm 62 getting ready to retire. I bought this bike mainly for the passenger kit because I wanted to be able to give rides to my grandkids. I also bought a shotgun seat so my smaller grandkids could sit in front of me. I also bought it to get some exercise and cruise my neighborhood. Here is what I've discovered.....When you cruise around at 10-12 mph (my 1st 250 watt e-bike) it's ok. You get out and get some exercise and it gets you off the couch. But, when you get a 750 watt e-bike?.......what a difference it makes. Now I cruise at 17-20+ mph. Now, instead of an "ok" bike ride, it becomes kind of like an amusement park ride. It's a blast. Your adrenaline starts pumping, the fresh air, my mood changes, etc. You would think you get less of a workout, right? But, no. What you end up doing is riding longer AND more often! It hardly ever feels like a workout. This is no exaggeration, every time the weather is nice enough, I want to go for a bike ride. My favorite ride is just before sunrise in the summer months. Watching the sun come up is very zen like and super relaxing. Every time it's warm enough, my grandkids beg me to go for a bike ride. Giving them rides and hearing them laugh and giggle is priceless to me. Buying an e-bike is probably one of my BEST purchases ever. Pick any model that fits your needs in the Ride1up family. You won't be sorry. FYI, I also bought a the 700 model from Ride1up for my wife. Same thing. Perfect. No problems. She loves it!

Love this bike. Fairly easy to put together. Had some minor packaging damage, but it did not damage any of the bike components. Had a few stripped screw heads (hex head stripped, not the threads), but customer service shipped me replacements quickly. This Cafe Cruiser is comfortable and super fast. Highly recommend!

I’m 56 years old/6’2”/285# and live in the Florida panhandle. This is my first e-bike. After riding motorcycles all my life, I replaced my Honda CB1100 with a spiffy new Cafe Cruiser for my two-wheel entertainment. This thing is super comfortable and an absolute hoot to ride! I rode my new bike the first 50 miles on the original charge in the battery as delivered. Assembly and set up was a breeze in my living room with the tools provided. All the positive online reviews and complimentary YouTube videos are on point. My new Cafe Cruiser is a comfortable, good looking, easy to ride precision built machine offered at a super fair price! Excuse me, I’m going for a ride!

Cafe cruiser is by far a very comfortable bike to ride. I know, I'm 60 yrs. old. Easy to assemble. Gregory has been very helpful in making my purchase. I am first time owner. The Cafe cruiser also turns heads, asking me what am I riding. 31 mph right out of the box, peddling hard to get that. A constant 28 miles an hour comfortably. Big saddle to make riding a pleasure. Hats off to Gregory and his staff. I would recommend this to All my friends. Keep up the good work. Ride1up is a very consistent and helpful company. Thanks, Dan R.

The CC reminded me of my first bike an old ballon tire Schwann. I bought the bike with the intention of customizing it to my liking. I cut the rack off, bobbed both fenders, replaced the seat, replaced the pedals, added some graphics and an appropriately shaped bottle rack. I still have a way to go before I’m done. This bike looks fast and is!

My bike arrived without damage and was easy to assemble. It rides so comfortably -- it is an absolute joy to ride. Not a good climber but it has enough power for my local hills. It comes in one size intended to fit a wide range of riders. I'm 6'1" and wound up purchasing and installing an adjustable handlebar stem to get my handlebar into a comfortable position. After this minor tweak it is just right. This bike is a bargain, I'm so glad I went with Ride1up.

I’ve logged 650 miles on my cruiser in less than a year! I love this bike! At 73, the step-thru frame is perfect for no-hassle mounts and dismounts. The “cargo” feature with integrated rear rack is perfect! The upright ride is more comfortable than I imagined a bike could be! My wife fell in love with my 1UP Cruiser, so she chose a 700 series for herself. She’s a believer, too! I’ve looked at many ebikes, and I haven’t seen one with the build quality of my 1UP! Couple an amazing bike with their English Speaking, helpful staff, and it’s an unbeatable combination!

My wife loves her Cafe Cruiser. Assembly was really easy, and there were no problems at all. We also purchased a LMTD which I also love, but it took quite a bit more work and tuning to get it going. Not surprising, as that's a more sporty bike. This one is really just a nice comfortable ride. The cadence sensor is very different from a torque sensor, so you should really look into that if it's important to you. For the price this can't be beat. Also, imo, these are the best looking bikes out there.

Great bike with great components. I like the upright ride position. The shipping company couldn't read the clearly marked "This side up" with an arrow too, as it came off the truck pointing down! Good packing the only thing to fall out were the two wrenches when taking the bike out of the box. Easily put together, only adjusted the front brake caliper, handlebars and seat and was off riding.

I just received and assembled my bike. It's awesome! Love the retro look of the cruiser. Assembly was easy. I did have a thought though. As a rule of thumb if you don't already have the tools they provide (very generous! Thanks for the hat as well) consider having it assembled. You'll enjoy the experience much more with a well tuned bike. If you don't have it assembled ask a friend who regularly works on bikes to teach you derailleur adjustment. It's a great skill to learn!

Love this bike! Rode home this evening thinking how glad I was to buy this thing! Once you get the cadence down through the gears, this bike is like floating around. Up hill, down hill, it doesn't matter. Very smooth ride. Not what I thought it would be like, at all, to have an Ebike. Rode my acoustic bicycle over the weekend with friends, and found myself wishing I had my cruiser with me. Not because it was more work, just because...... And once you know what I mean, you will know what I mean. Ride1Up has been a pleasure, and I hope to do more business with them in the future. Very satisfied!

My wife and I are in LOVE! We both absolutely love our new Cafe Cruisers (and of course each other)! She is the proud owner of a Latte Gloss and I ride my Indigo Matte! After months (and I mean months) of researching which way to go with our entry into the E-bike world, we decided on Ride1Up and we are sooo glad we did! This is a very solid bike, so well built, and so much fun to ride! Now we find ourselves hurrying home at the end of the day so we can get our Cafe Cruiser time in, and exploring every corner of our city! The geniuses at Ride1Up really nailed it with this bike! We've never been on a more comfortable bike and now have all the confidence in the world to ride, ride, ride! My wife just loves her ‘get up and go’ button (throttle)!! Get yours quick! You won’t regret it!

This has been life changing. No joke. I’ve been looking forever for ways to cut my monthly car expenses. I’ve been super nervous about getting a bike because I am so incredibly out of shape. I decided an e-bike would be the only way I could possibly get into riding. Ride1Up stood out because of the price and high ratings. It’s been 3 months now. The pedal assist has allowed me to ride to work everyday. I’ve lost a good amount of weight. I’ve refueled my car maybe twice since the bike came in, instead of the once weekly I’m used to. The ride is comfy, suspension does really well, and the pedal assist super smooth. I get SO many looks, compliments, and questions wherever I go. Only thing I’d change is better range and the set up process can be really confusing for people brand new to this. I felt like there were steps missing in the guide and I had some squeaks and rattles. Thankfully a biker friend helped me adjust some of the bolts and frame and it’s been flawless. Thank you so much Ride1Up

I have just passed 500 miles on my Cruiser. It looks and performs as new…which is Perfect! I bought my Cafe Cruiser last November for my birthday. My wife loved it so much, we’ve added a 700 Series to our R1U family! This was not my first eBike. My first was a disaster! So, I spent many hours researching, to not make another mistake. From the moment I opened the box, I was in love! Amazing build quality. Durable. This bike will last a long time. We live on a small island where most residents have golf carts. Our Ride1UP bikes are better, faster and require no license. It was the ideal choice for us! I’ve only contacted Support once, but it was a very comfortable experience. My issue was resolved instantly. I can’t say enough about these bikes and this company! We’re believers!

I’m 71 years old. I’ve been riding and working on bicycles for over sixty years and motorcycles for fifty years. I’ve been resisting the urge to try out an e-bike, as I have no difficulty handling a “traditional” bicycle. But then I read about the Cafe Cruiser and decided to buy one (it was probably the bicycle’s design that swayed me more than anything). The cruiser is outstanding, not only from a cost benefit, but also build quality, built-in lighting and a stout rear rack, ease of assembly (whoever pre assembled my bike dialed it in perfectly), and better than expected components. There seems to be a lot of competition in e-bikes right now. I took a chance on Ride1Up and glad I did. Grandpa’s “Battle Cruiser”.

Awesome bike it arrived more assembled than anticipated. Box was partially roughed up but that is expected shipping from Cali to Wisconsin. Had to take it in the front rotor was slightly bent and watched the technician straighten it out. Easy fix learned something new. Rides and runs great we tend to be more flat landers with an occasional hill gravel and pavement but no issues and man can you fly especially with Tony Stark ‘ s turbo boost. 😀 Really enjoying even though Canadian wild fires causing air issues. Thank you for your great product I have many compliments on what a cool looking bike it is well done R1U!

I’m enjoying my new Cafe Cruiser immensely. Beautifully finished, solid construction and nicely appointed “extras” such as the built-in rear rack and lighting. I’m 6’ 2”, 200 pounds, and 71 years old, thought I’d never want an E-bike as I do a lot of casual riding but this bike sold me. Glad it did.

The assist options that come with the bike are great. From no assist to 99%! Shifting is smooth and all controls are easy to use. Brakes are very responsive and strong. The riding position of this beach cruiser makes the ride comfortable for me. The power is there when you want it. The bike took an hour to put together. For the price to value received, I’m very happy with the cafe cruiser.

So I built my cafe cruiser today. I’ve had the thing for a while now. So here’s my review so far It’s packaged great. It will almost take longer to inbox it than to build it. That’s fine you wouldn’t want it showing up with issues due to shipping. The instructions are ok. It was easy to figure out when the instructions were lacking. I think we all know where the front fender goes and how to install the handle bars. There are some great videos online if you want to watch. The quality of the bike is insane. They don’t cut any corners. The craftsmanship shows while you’re building it. As for riding. I’ve built 1 mother home made e-bike. It didn’t have pedal assist. That takes a min to get used to but it’s easy. You can always shut it off and use the throttle or use a combo of pedal, throttle and assist. Thanks again and I will be purchasing another soon!

It’s a perfect fit. Great ebike. The shipping container did not prevent considerable paint damage. Although I was given an $80 refund, I would much rather have had a bike that looked like a new $1600 ebike.

As one person stated this bike is a beast. Very well built and durable riding on dirt. This is one of the best investments I've made and will change my life style. I am 68 so the extra boast is a blessing. The seat is comfortable and with a few other adjustments I was down the road. It is like riding and gliding down the road. I am re-locating from Sacramento to Cambria (Cali Central Coast) and will be my main transportation. I look forward in logging in some US 1 miles.

I have had my Cafe Cruiser for about a week. I love it! Everything worked when I assembled it; I did not need to tune anything. I can definitely see getting the miles per charge that they claim. I can comfortably do 20mph in PAS 4 on flat ground. I am in a rural beach area, it would be a commuting king in an urban area. I added a couple dodads, including my co-pilots, Quick and Quack. Have fun, ride safe!

I love it! hard to get five stars but easy 4.5. Quick shipping, easy assembly. I have about 300 miles on the bike only stranded once with dead battery, my fault left without charger. I have a 12.5 mike commute, on most days I could make the trip both ways on a single charge but I went about 5 miles out of the way and back so i figure a total of 35 miles that day on a single charge. Specs say 40 miles. Plenty fast at a great price, lots of compliments on the style, when I tell them I can do upwards of 28 plus mph and go 30 miles on a charge folks are shocked at this price point.

I am super happy with my Cafe Cruiser! It’s my second eBike. There is no comparison. It was a 71st birthday present to myself. My first bike was a mountain bike configuration, with straight handlebars. This puts too much weight on an old guy’s hands and wrists! With my Cruiser, I’m sitting upright with no undue stress anywhere. In the few weeks I’ve had her, I’ve gotten so many comments and compliments! Some say it reminds them of a motorcycle, not a bicycle! The long wheelbase adds to that perception. Also, the step-thru frame is reminiscent of the old hard-tail Harleys. I love the “intermediate” size tires. The 4 inch tires are cumbersome, while the 2.75 mountain tires are a bumpy ride. The Cruiser’s 3 inch tires are the perfect compromise! The Cruiser has excellent hydraulic suspension and hydraulic brakes! These are usually found on more expensive bikes. Power isn’t an issue for me. I live on an island. There are no hills! This bike will go faster than I care to go on 2 wheels. But, it cruises perfectly at slower speeds, pedaling or nursing the throttle. Being able to use pedal assist AND throttle at the same time, is very handy. My previous bike, it was either/or. Folks, I don’t have adequate words of praise for this machine! It breaks the mold of “typical” eBikes…in terrific ways! Maybe you can tell…I’m a fan of the Ride1UP Cafe Cruiser!

Fantastic ebike for long rides. Seat is very comfortable and battery lasts for 30 plus miles. Looks great and motor has lot of juice to go over hills at great speed. We have already logged 300 miles in less than a month. Only issue we had was with shipping damaging the fork, hopefully ride1up can do better job with packaging. Their customer service was great and sent us replacement fork right away.

Introverts beware: buy the Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser, and be prepared to get stopped often by strangers and asked many questions about the ebike, the price, your experience riding it, etc. I’ve had to adjust to my role as an unwitting and unpaid Ride1Up spokesperson as an introvert. I’ve been holding my own, I think—but it does get exhausting. As for the questions I usually get, yes, assembly was fairly easy even for a bike novice like myself (the provided instructions were helpful, and some of the brief YouTube videos that were recommended were especially helpful). The price is reasonable. The shipping was quick. The bike looks cool. I’ve managed to put over 700 miles on the Cafe Cruiser in about a month. I added the rear seat, and take my kids on rides and even my spouse. No problems so far, no tire issues, no motor issues, no brake issues. As a class 3, the bike is peppy, and a single charge seems to easily reach the 30-50 mile range depending on throttle and assist. Minor gripes: the motor can surge a bit on very high pedal assist levels when initially engaged even at a low cadence (this may become a non-issue when you develop an overall feel for the bike), and some motor noise. Nothing crazy, but the bike is not dead silent—especially at high assist levels. Overall, I’m very happy and have been using our car a LOT less. So yes, I highly recommend this company and this bike. But I never expected so many conversations from random strangers and am adjusting to my newfound popularity as a Ride1Up ambassador.

I am really impressed with this bike. It is fast, convenient and enjoyable to ride. It came mostly assembled and was easy to get up and running. I built a crate on the back rack and use this for errands and some exercise, since we have had 40 days over 100 degrees I can ride without too much effort and enjoy the breeze. The crate folds down when I am not using it. I like the options for assist and use the headlight and tail light when it gets dark. I saw some feedback about the tires and bought MAXXIS - Hookworm BMX Tires 2.5 inch x 26 and they are really much better for grip, handeling, and the side walls are much thicker and will give better results for any type of puncture. They made a big difference is my confidence for turns and grip.

Just got my Cafe Cruiser! Bike arrived two days ago - shipping was pretty quick to CT! Carefully unpacked it and assembled. It is heavy and well built. I am switching from a Dillinger 1,000W conversion kit I installed on my high-end dual suspension aluminum Motobecane mountain bike nearly 10 years ago. This bike has at least the same power and more expected range (kit went about 22 miles) but is several pounds heavier despite a lighter Lithium/ion battery (kit was lead/acid). frame geometry is SO different from my old bike, but it is a LOT more comfortable for this 220lb, 53 year-old. Saddle had to be raised very high so that my knees were straighter, but also had to angle handlebars up so my knees didn’t hit them. Makes hands feel like they’re sliding forward a little - still tweaking the angle… If they made this in an X-large frame, I would’ve gotten it. But as I get used to the very different upright riding position, the power assist even on ‘2’ is quite brisk. Tingling hands and a sore butt after more than 2.5 hours of riding will be a thing of the past on this Cadillac of a bike. It will def need 2 people to put it on the tow-hitch bike rack, but now I am the ‘mule’, and will be expected to carry all the supplies leaving my wife’s bike lighter so she’ll have a prayer of keeping up. (Not likely, lol - this thing really moves!) Very happy with purchase and am already dreaming up long rails-to-trails adventures with or without her, lol!

I could not be happier with this bike. I had to wait a couple months for the blue color, but the wait was well worth it, absolutely beautiful. The frame is an awesome shape and the whole bike really just feels badass. Aside from the looks, the bike preforms even better than expected. Some of the other brands advertise 1000w motors and more advanced displays, but after hitting 31mph on a flat road, im not sure id even want to go much faster than this bike is capable of. I also have not run into a hill the cruiser cant climb (with some peddling). This is my first ebike and this has definitely made me understand all the hype. They really allow you to dial in how much exercise you want to get, from a full workout to basically a motorcycle ride. For the value of this bike and everythring that is offered, im very happy i went with ride1up and the cafe cruiser for my first ebike. The only suggestion i would make to the company would be to include a spoke wrench as loose spokes seems to be a c

Honestly I love this bike! 5/5. Here are some thoughts in no particular order: It’s larger than expected but that makes me feel safe on the road. I commute into work three days out of the week and only find myself charging overnight every two weeks. My only little annoyance is I find the bike taller than my legs are comfortable with (I am 5’4”) but the step thru option should fix that (I chose the higher bar for style reasons ha). My apartment’s bike rack is a little too small for this bike, the back tire sticks out of the slots and the wheels are too thick for the track. Measuring ahead of time would have been a smart idea. Also as anyone with a ebike knows the battery is heavy, this bike is heavy, but I can still manoeuvre it without too many issues. And finally, I recommend getting a cheap door stopper because pulling this bike thru a heavy door that’s trying to close the entire time is a total pain. This is not the bikes fault of course but it is heavy enough to fight you a littl

The gearing is great and i can still get some good exercise in on the 1 and 2 power assist levels. Perfect commuter setup to bungee/strap things on the back or pop the people carrier seat on to get the wife or kids downtown. Good quality build and the value is really there at this price point. I mean it's in the name, but this thing just cruises. I was a little nervous with the more upright seating position since I've never had a cruiser style bike before, but I actually really enjoy it so far. I have some brutal elbow arthritis (I'm only 29 ?) and with the wide swept handles bars on the Cafe Cruiser, it seems to help with my limited range of arm motion. The main selling point for me on this bike was the rear rack having a 130 pound capacity since it's welded directly onto the frame. It's going to come in handy for the passenger seat add-on with a 4 year old in the picture. Also like the idea of a cargo capability for trips to the grocery store and it sounds like Ride1Up is in the works of a rear basket of some sort in the coming months. Very excited for that! The components being offered on this bike at it's price point seems hard to beat. After some tinkering around in the display, this bike can easily get up to 28MPH and it just feels super solid. I have plans of using t

It has been so great working with Customer Service at Ride 1 up. They returned my correspondence lightening fast. Despite the issue being totally my screw up, Jazzy and the team were gracious, accomodating and efficient. We love the bikes, some cool cruisers with oomph! I would give more than 5 stars if it was an option. I will be recommending them to all of my friends. This is a great choice in a domain with many competing brands. Thanks Ride 1 up.

Really nice bike, the ride is smooth and has enough power. Only issue I guess is rear brake squeaks. I adjusted it a few times and still occasionally squeaks.

Very nice. Just needed a stem riser to fit my 6’2″ height.
